Government grants - Types of grants handed out to the financially needy

1. Housing grants: According to President Barack Obama, the budget for housing grants in the year 2010-2011 is around $45 billion. The applicants who are approved for this particular type of grant may receive an amount of $500-50,000 a year. Applicants are allowed to apply for this kind of loan for various reasons and they need not repay the amount. The applicants may be able to apply for different reason each time, whether to repay their mortgage loan or refinance their present mortgage loans. This particular type of grants makes it easier for a person to invest a large amount of money into their home.
2. Personal grants: The personal grants may cover various different needs and they typically range from $500 to $50,000. Personal grants are available for seniors, for women assistance, transportation, medical needs, debt problems and other financial issues. People are allowed to apply for as many personal grants as they feel are relevant.
3. College grants: With the rising educational costs, an increasingly large number of people are falling back on their college degrees. There are many students who feel they need their degree but are unable to fulfill their degree as they're going through lack of funds. College grants can be taken out and this amount usually doesn't exceed $5,500 unless there is a special circumstance. Among most grants, the college grants are the most commonly used ones as the students do not have enough income to repay their debt burden. Pell grants, TEACH grants and SMART grants are some of the most common kinds of college grants available to students.
4. Business grants: According to the budget of 2010-2011, the business grants that will be lent to the people in the US are $34 billion and for the small business organization, it is $100 million. Business grants are specially designed for those people who have a lucrative business idea in their mind but do not have enough money to start off with their business. As businesses are responsible for generating revenue, you can easily get such grants if you show them your financial hardship.
Government grants may be used for a wide array of purposes. If you have financial problems and you're drowning in an ocean of debt, get help from the government grants before rushing to a debt settlement program. As the money is free, you need not repay it and thus this will certainly be a better option for you.
